A REAL American

Michelle Malkin highlights the gorgeous Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo and her role in FOX's "24." Having a little bit of knowledge of history and the fight that so many people in America waged for the right to vote, I was so happy to see this quote:
"Henry Miller said that the problem with native people is that they don't look at the monuments in their own towns. I do. As an immigrant, I appreciate every inch I have gained.
"When I first became a citizen, I was dying to vote, just like Tara. I got to the polling place at 6 a.m. to be certain I could exercise my right, because I was deprived of that right for so long."
Tears were in my eyes. Listening to all of the complaining about long lines and such in the last election, I think of people like her and wonder. How much more does she recognize the freedom we have. Will enough of us join her in defending it?
Shohreh and millions like her are the reason that I am proud to be an American!
