Around the Ohio Blogosphere

OK, mostly what those pesky center-right blogs say that interest me. (Check 'em out, they're good!)Bizzyblog does a good job of defending the right-wingers against the charge that the left kicked our butts (I'm only trying to be a little nice) in covering the Schmidt/Hackett race. (No mention of The Face?)
James Rummel over at Hell In A Handbasket recommends that you pick up a copy of the lost "classic" Hickey and Boggs, starring I, Spy mates Bill Cosby and Robert Culp. Bill has really turned me off with a lot of his political chatter, but Robert Culp has been sort of a hero to me ever since he took on alien rocks in the old Outer Limits series. Check it out.
Also, check out Culp's other Outer Limits episode, the Harlan Ellison penned Demon With a Glass Hand and the other Harlan Ellison masterpiece: Soldier.
Bonus: the "creators" of The Terminator ripped off the idea from the Ellison episodes.
Large Bill pontificates that John Bolton's enemies make him look pretty good.
That NixGuy fellow discovers the brilliance that is Dennis the Peasant. Check both of them out. (Dennis is CRAZY--you've been warned!)
Project Logic highlights Ohio 2nd's contention that the biggest loser in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District race was Tom Brinkman. Project Logic agrees with him and so do I, but for different reasons. The truth? The liberal establishment is extremely intolerant of real conservatives in Ohio and for better or worse, I believe that Schmidt will have this seat for as long as she wants to. For proof, see how "moderates" treat Ken Blackwell.
Eric Minamyer, a candidate in the Republican Primary and backer of Jean Schmidt when she won, pours a little water on the Democrats dreams of taking over Ohio:
Anyone who thinks the closeness of the election indicates that President Bush is not popular in the district should consider that both candidates invoked the president's image and name in their campaign.
Of course! Keep dreaming Dems, the liberal leadership just might screw things up enough that your warmed-over socialism just might be appealing.
John Kasich mad at Bob Bennett? So speculates Red-State:
A tale making its way around Republican circles has the former congressman and current Fox News Channel host livid at the longtime state GOP chairman. The ill-will is a direct result of the widely reported story [I covered it too] three weeks ago that Kasich is considering entering next year's race for Ohio governor. Kasich is supposedly extremely unhappy that the story appeared, and he blames Bennett for planting it.
It seems to me that Bennett is faced with two problems in his mind: he fears a bruising primary at a time when liberal Republicans have found themselves embroiled in scandal and the fear that a true conservative like Ken Blackwell will win.
This could explain what Mr. Meckler sees has Kasich's outrage:
Kasich is said to be particularly upset over the statements attributed to him that he would not run unless Montgomery and Petro drop out of the race, and that he would be happy to confront Blackwell in a primary. Kasich does not want to be seen as forcing anybody out of the race, and he interpreted the statement (as did others) as a not-so-subtle means of pressuring the auditor and the attorney general to quit. This pressure, so the rumor goes, comes from Bennett, not Kasich, and Kasich wants nothing to do with it. Furthermore, the claim that Kasich is more than ready to take on the secretary of state was understood as a wedge to separate Kasich from Blackwell's conservative supporters. The last thing Kasich wants is for angry conservatives to start labelling him a RINO ("Republican In Name Only", considered a derogatory comment in some circles) and dumping him in the same category with the state GOP establishment and the widely despised Governor Taft.
Yep.
Blogging may be light until Monday, but Ohio bloggers are an amazing bunch--check them out.
