I will write more on the current immigration debate later, but this George Will comment cannot stand.From The Columbus Dispatch:
America, the only developed nation that shares a long -- 2,000-mile -- border with a Third World nation, could seal that border. East Germany showed how: walls, barbed wire, machine gun-toting border guards in towers, mine fields, large irritable dogs. And we have modern technologies that East Germany never had, such as sophisticated sensors, unmanned surveillance drones, etc.
The difference is: The communist East-German government was trying to keep their people IN! Mr. Will is a smart man; he damn well knows this fact. He damn well knows the horror that the communist government subject its people to. Such comparisons to the United States are beyond the pale.
Such demagoguery is beneath him.
Shame on you Mr. Will!!!!!!!!
